Meet the Team
Irvin Khaytman | Host and Founder
Irvin is a Ravenpuff in his 30s hailing from New York City, where he does taxes by day and all things geeky by night. He is the author of Dumbledore: The Life and Lies. Irvin has been “MuggleNet’s controversial columnist” since 2011, writing under the moniker “hpboy13” in the Three Broomsticks column. Irvin was a host of the Alohomora! podcast from 2019 to 2022. In his spare time, he is the Dark Lord of the Dance, leader of the Dancing Death Eaters; the organizer of NYC’s Meetup group, the NY Order of the Phoenix; and an avid cosplayer. Aside from working hours, Irvin has no muggle life – whenever he is not sewing costumes or dancing the night away, he is probably writing or talking about Harry Potter.
Sophia Jenkins | Host and Founder
Sophia Jenkins is a proud Hufflepuff and the Contributions Editor for MuggleNet. She likes to channel her inner Luna Lovegood by reading Harry Potter analysis books (upside down, of course) while wearing her large collection of miniature food earrings.
Ev McLoughlin | Host
Ev (she/they) is a Gryffindor living in Northern Ireland. When she’s not reading/watching/thinking about Wizarding World, she dabbles in poetry and various arts. She also volunteers at a heritage railway, hoping one day to give up her IT job to drive the Hogwarts Express (or, at least, replace the trolley lady).
Karoline Oberlander | Host
Karoline loves reading and talking about books across genres but is happiest when a book manages to pull her into a different world. She usually has more than one book open at a time and even more unread books waiting around, she makes music, and enjoys travelling all over the world. Besides that, she spends most of her time working in policy and research.
DJ McDonald | Host
DJ McDonald (aka Denis James) is a Slytherin (Hufflepuff if Snape is Head of House) who became a Potter fan when his dad made him watch Sorcerer’s Stone instead of watching Pokemon for the 394th time. An avid fan of being a fan, you can usually find him fanboying over something. His favorite topics include Harry Potter (shocker), Pokemon, and Elder Scrolls, but he’ll try almost anything! He particularly enjoys discussing Wizarding world law and order, all things Ministry of Magic, and Hogwarts politics.
Sam Ommen | Social Media
Sam is a Slytherpuff located in New York City(and sometimes Chicago). When she’s not rambling about why James Potter and Ginny Weasley are the best, she’s most likely in a dark room color grading or outside training for another marathon. Her other fandoms include South Park and Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure.
